Castleford Bridge This dramatic S-shaped bridge has played a key role in the regeneration of this former South Yorkshire mining community and transformed how local people relate to their river. Our urban design team studied how the placement of the bridge would affect local movement patterns. Working with McDowell + Benedetti, our structural engineers achieved an elegant slim deck using curved box beams which utilised the form of the benches as an integral part of the structure over the longer spans.
